Schmitt Technical Services, LLC (STS) is the experienced, practical and responsive alternative for specialized construction materials consulting and testing. We serve the civil engineering, construction, construction products and mining industries.Chemical and petrographic analysis of building materials and products, geological services and field evaluation and testing of problems and failures are our specialties.
In order to better serve you, we have grown in size and breadth of service capabilities and personnel. We have expanded our petrographic laboratories through asset acquisition of another petrographic firm, substantial capital expenditures of new equipment and build out of additional laboratory and office space. We have purchased a variety of field equipment and instrumentation to allow us to do specialized field sampling and testing related to troubleshooting of construction materials and product problems and failures.
In addition, we have built and equipped wet chemistry, organic chemistry and chemical instrumentation laboratories to provide a full range of chemical testing and forensics services. Schmitt Technical Services can now perform a variety of chemical testing on cements, concrete, masonry mortars, organic and inorganic additives, wood and steel. Chemical testing capabilities include chloride content, cement calorimetry, cement content determination, admixture and additive analysis and troubleshooting, and testing of adhesives, aggregates, bagged products, caulks, coatings, curing agents, fillers, paints, petroleum-based products, pigments, polymers, polymer modifiers, raw feeds/ingredients, sealants, soils and water.
Our experience includes a vast array of studies both in the field and in the laboratory including floor issues, coating failures, moisture problems, surface deterioration, chemical attack, quality evaluations, repair evaluations, restorations, alkali-aggregate reaction, cracking, spalling, fire damage, strength issues, durability concerns, corrosion and many, many other unique cases. We have done a wide variety of product development work, contract research, and quality control planning, testing and implementation.
